HR Epoxy did an amazing job transforming our flood-damaged downstairs into a lovely, clean living space.

The job itself was a bit tricky, as there was no waterproof membrane, and a lot of damage to the slab itself. HR Epoxy were super accommodating, and made sure ensure their work was timed to fit with the slab being dried, so there was no risk of it becoming moist between trades.

It was a big job. The slab was very discoloured and needed a lot of grinding back. They needed to apply a waterproof membrane to prevent a recurrence of the previous issues. There were lots of intricate areas under the stairwell and around existing fittings that needed time and patience...

The attention to detail is awesome! Tight areas have been finished properly, the flakes have been spread evenly, and the progression from room to room is seamless.

HR Epoxy were awesome to deal with, really professional, put in long days to get the job done, and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend!! The pictures speak for themselves...

How long does an epoxy garage floor last on the Sunshine Coast?

There is no honest fixed number of years. How long a floor lasts comes down mostly to what is underneath it and how hard it gets used.

A slab that has been diamond ground, repaired and moisture checked gives the coating something solid to hold onto, and that is where most of the life of a floor is decided. A garage that sees a work ute every day is a different job to one that holds a car and a pushbike, so tell Hagan how you use yours when he quotes.

Can a flood affected downstairs slab be epoxied?

Often, yes, once the slab has properly dried out. Timing matters more than anything, because coating over concrete that is still holding moisture is asking for trouble.

Where the slab calls for it, a waterproof membrane goes down before the flake. The downstairs photos in the Recent Work section are one of these jobs: a discoloured slab ground back, membrane laid, then flake through every room.

Does concrete need to be ground before epoxy goes on?

Yes. Grinding is the step that decides whether the coating holds or lets go.

A diamond grind takes off the smooth top skin of the concrete along with old sealer and surface stains, and opens the slab up so the primer can soak in. It is also when cracks, lifted joints and damp patches show themselves, so they get dealt with before anything is laid rather than showing through afterwards.

Can you coat around a pool?

Yes. Pool surrounds get a textured finish rather than a smooth gloss, and the coating can run from the coping out to the fence line and paths.

It is one sealed surface, so there is less for dirt and pool water to soak into, and it cleans up with a broom and a hose. There are a few Sunshine Coast pool jobs in the Recent Work section above.

Do you do epoxy floors for salons, studios and other businesses?

Yes. HR Epoxy does commercial floors as well as homes, including a hair salon, a pilates studio and a covered school area shown in Recent Work.
